Disciples of Jesus see John 3:16 as a key verse in the New Testament. This passage states that “ …God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. Since God loves the world or “peoples of this world”, it is His passionate desire that all people come to know that He loves them and that He has prepared a way, through the sacrificial death of the Son He gave for this purpose.
It seems natural for people to be self-centred and materialistic; seeking good only for themselves and those in their immediate circle of family and friends. We, the followers of Christ are not exempt from that. Most often, we totally ignore the plight of those people that Jesus has commanded us to reach and disciple.
The church of Jesus Christ in Saskatoon and area, just as churches everywhere, is in need of constant renewal so that obedience to God’s commands is the highest priority in our thinking. When we live in obedience to God we will be seeking ways in which we can share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those near and far.
In order to fulfil this need, a group of Christians have come together to organise HavestFest with the stated purpose: “ To inspire and enable followers of Jesus Christ to participate in the urgent gathering in of the harvest of lost men and women here and around the world to the glory and renown of Jesus Christ.
